Sialkot Stallions won the National T20 Cup Karachi 2011 beating defending champions Rawalpindi Rams by 10 runs in a close a nail biting encounter. Taking the field in front of a jam-packed crowd at the National Stadium Karachi, the now six times winners posted a staggering target of 181 runs from 20 overs for the defending champs to chase, but Rawalpindi Rams fell short by 10 runs in what was a magnificent chase up until the last two overs when suddenly few wickets were lost in quick succession.

The attendance at the stadium and the viewership though out the country and all around the world was super encouraging as Pakistan domestic cricket takes a leap forward. A domestic team from neighboring Afghanistan also participated in this year’s event which increased the excitement level.

Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza was the focus of the cameramen who focused on her in the crowd clapping and cheering as hubby Shoaib hit every four and six. Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad and PCB Chairman were among the dignitaries attending the final which also included several former cricketing legends.

The temporary end of international cricket from Pakistan has indeed been a blessing in disguise for the country as domestic cricket has increased big time. The quality of cricket has improved and the number of tournaments has also increased. As the Faysal Bank National T20 Cup 2011 comes to an end, the country is all ready for the Quaid-e-Azam trophy, a domestic test championship. Well done Pakistan!
